Basket ball is a very interesting game and lovely game which remains action packed all through out the season. It can be played both indoor and outdoor. The game was first played in United States of America in the year 1891. Just like soccer the game is played in two halves, where the team which scores higher points is declared the winner. The game is played by 2 teams with five players from each team who tries to shoot the ball into the basket. The regulation basketball hoop or the basket has a rim which is 18 inches in diameter and is mounted at a height of 10 feet on a board. Net is fitted on to the rim through which the ball is shooted in. when the ball is shooted behind the line 3 points are awarded to the team, while if the ball is thrown after the line two points are awarded for each shoot. Like soccer where the game ends in a tie extra time of 3 minutes is allowed after which the team with higher points is declared as the winner.

The player’s fitness and physique are extremely important since the game involves lot of actions and players need to run between the baskets and fetch the ball from the opponent. Famous basketball players like Michael Jordan; Allen Iverson maintained high fitness and showed real character while playing the game. Allen Iverson was born on June 7 1975 at Virginia. He first played for the Turkish basketball league and then he came to United States of America to represent the NBA. At school his talent was spotted by his coach john Thompson and recruited him to play for the club Hoyas. His first season as a professional was in the year 1996 for Philadelphia. He then played for the club sixes and then switched over the Detroit nuggets. During this tenure he won many awards NBA all star award, NBA rookie of the year award etc. he represent USA in his international carrier and won the summer Olympic for his country in the year 2004. Famous basket players have a height around 7 feet and have a very high fitness level. Iverson though was very low in stature compared to his rivals. Even though he was 6 feet tall he had an average match point of around 26.1 next to Michael Jordan.

Basket ball even though has international recognition and Olympic recognition to it is more famous among the clubs. Like the English premier league popularity in USA. He plays the forward position like nobody and has won many awards like NBA Rookie of the year, NBA most valuable player and the all star award in a very early stage itself. Representing the Miami heats he plays the forward with absolute flawless technique and also defends at the same time.

Basket ball is played by both men and women and women sport is recognized by the international Olympic association as well. Famous basket players have appreciated and helped in the growth of women’s basket ball as well. Some of the famous women basketball players like Swing Cash, Cheryl miller, Anne Donovan, Rebecca lobo have made sure the women basketball game stays equal to the men’s basketball game. Women’s basketball is also recognized in the international level.
